The Washington Post (8/13, Snell) reports that members of the House Freedom Caucus “hope to revive the failed effort to gut the Affordable Care Act with a long-shot drive to force” House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) to hold a vote to repeal law without a replacement. The conservatives “want to seize control of the health-care debate by petitioning Republicans to hold a vote on a version of a repeal bill that passed the House in 2015.” If no Democrats sign the petition, “conservatives would have to win support from all but 22 of the 240 House Republicans” to force a vote.
